And they say it with surprise, but also with the relief of those who spent years fighting with brands. The fashion industry forces you to fit in on an average. But if you have broad shoulders and a narrow waist, or a long torso and short legs, the "M" or "L" waist does not work for you. You end up buying a bag that pulls on the back or pants that don't close well.
I'm Carlos Molina, and I've been doing author design in Buenos Aires for more than 15 years. When you enter our atelier, the frustration of size charts disappears. Here, your body is the only standard that matters.

The conversation
At the first meeting we talk through the ideas you have in mind, look at references together, and settle on a first direction with sketches and renders of the piece to come.
The cloth
We hold catalogues of Argentine, Italian, French and English fabrics, so you can choose what suits your piece best.
The pattern
We take the measurements needed to build your own pattern. We work with moulage, on mannequins shaped to your body, so the fit lands where it should.
The fittings
The process includes as many fittings as the garment needs to be impeccable.
Delivery
We set the handover date together, as close as possible to the date of your event.
The fabrics
During your visit to our atelier, you will be able to learn about the different options of fabrics available to make your garment.
- Cerruti 1881Cerruti 1881 We work with fabrics from Lanificio F.lli Cerruti, one of the most prestigious spinning mills in the world, founded in 1881 in Biella, Italy. In the atelier you can see and touch the complete catalogues, choose your gender and design your garment on that specific fabric. Your order arrives from Italy in two weeks, and from there the preparation begins in our workshop.
- Dugdale & CoDugdale & Co Classic premium English linens and tailoring cloths, with catalogues to choose from. Fabrics arrive from Europe in twenty days.
- ShirtingsShirtings Peruvian pima cotton, Italian cotton, linen and premium shirtings in a wide catalogue. Once the cloth is chosen you set the collar (classic, wing, mandarin and others), the cuff, the button type and whether the placket is visible or concealed.

Both pieces were made to measure in this workshop, which is why they carry no list price: the design, the cloth and the finishing details are set by each commission. What you see priced in the shop are finished garments, available to buy directly.

Frequently asked questions
How long does the process take?
Making a garment takes between 3 and 5 weeks. For full suits or events with a fixed date, we recommend booking at least 6 weeks ahead.
How much does a bespoke garment cost?
It depends on the garment, the cloth you choose and the work it involves, such as hand embroidery. In our first conversation we define together what you are looking for, and we send you the quote before we start, with no surprises.
Why do the pieces in the shop have a price and the made-to-measure service does not?
Because they are two different things. The pieces priced in the shop are finished garments, available to buy directly, so there is a single figure. The made-to-measure design and tailoring service is built together with you, and its value changes with the design, the cloth you choose and the finishing details. That is why it is quoted at the first meeting, with the price agreed before any work starts.
Do you make tailoring and tailored suits for women?
Yes. The pattern comes from your measurements and your posture, not from a size chart, so the atelier's tailoring suits any body: suits, blazers and tailored trousers, for women and for men.
Do you make made-to-measure shirts?
Yes. We have a shirting fabric catalogue: Peruvian pima cotton, Italian cotton, linen and premium shirtings. From there you choose the collar (classic, wing, mandarin and others), the cuff, the button type and whether the placket is visible or concealed. Each of those decisions changes the character of the shirt, which is why the price is also set once the shirt is defined.
Do I need to know exactly what style I want before I come?
No. You can bring references, and it is fine if you have none. The first consultation takes as long as it takes: we listen to what you are after and design the piece together.
Can I choose the fabric?
Yes. At the atelier we keep cloth books from Argentine, Italian, French and English mills, so you can see and touch the fabric before deciding. You choose the cloth and we design the garment around it. When the fabric comes from Italy, the order arrives in about two weeks, and the making begins from there.
How many fittings does the process include?
Usually two. A first fitting where we correct the pattern on your body, and a final one before handover. If the piece is complex or the fit needs more work, we add as many as it takes: fittings are part of the job, they are not charged separately.
Do you make groom's suits for weddings?
Yes, and it is one of the most frequent commissions at the atelier. For a wedding it is best to start three months ahead: there is time to choose the cloth unhurried, do the fittings needed and arrive calm on the day. We also make the suits for the groomsmen and the father of the groom, so the whole party looks considered.
Do you make suits for graduation balls?
Yes. It is best to start in August or September, because the parties cluster in November and December and by then the diary is full. And there is this: a well-chosen tailored suit is not worn for a single night, it stays for interviews, weddings and whatever comes next.
What if I gain or lose weight later?
The garment can be altered. We leave extra in the seams precisely for that, and alterations on a garment we made are done here at the atelier. It is one of the real differences from something bought off the rail: it is built to last and to follow the changes of the body.
I live in another province or abroad, can I still order?
Yes. We take the measurements over a video call, with a guide we send you so they are taken correctly, and we ship across the country and abroad. When travel allows, we still prefer at least one fitting at the atelier: the fit of a made-to-measure garment is settled on the body.
Where is the atelier?
We are in the heart of Buenos Aires (Malabia 1116, CABA). To keep our full attention on each person and that sense of quiet, we receive by appointment only.
